Course description. The road race course for all categories except Pro/1/2 and Juniors, is a 40 mile undulating course with two (2) major climbs and several long and short hills with a total of 6100 feet of climbing. It is a point-to-point course that starts in downtown Marshall, NC, and finishes at the top of Walnut Creek Road (a mountain top finish). Riders will need to ride back to the parking/start area on their own by descending down Walnut Creek Road on the back side of the mountain. The ride back to the parking/start area is approximately 8 miles long. Small gearing for this event is highly recommended. See course map and profile page as well as a cue sheet. Also see the map and profile of the 8 mile return to the parking/start area.

Pro/1/2 Road Race: The Pro/1/2 race will include the above 40 mile course plus an additional 25 mile loop for a total of 65 miles and 8500 feet of climbing. This field will make a loop around the Town of Marshall before getting on the original road course. Feed zone for the Pro/1/2 field will be located within the Mars Hill College campus area, along Park Drive (the first 1000 feet after the right hand turn of HWY 213). This area will be located at approximately 35 miles into the road race. The feed area will be clearly marked the day of the event. Riders will need to ride back to the parking/start area on their own by descending down Walnut Creek Road on the back side of the mountain. The ride back to the parking/start area is approximately 8 miles long. Small gearing for this event is highly recommended. See course map and profile page. Also see the map and profile of the 8 mile return to the parking/start area.

Juniors Road Race: The Juniors will compete on a new 21 mile loop around the Town of Marshall. This is the same loop as the additional section added to the Pro/1/2 field. The 21 mile loop is an undulating course with approximately 2200 feet of climbing and a hilltop finish on the outskirts of the Town of Marshall. See the juniors course map and profile page.

Women's Road Race: There will be two (2) primes awarded to the first female racer (one for the Pro/1/2/3 field and one for the Cat 4 field) going over the second significant climb (Murray's Mountain) along California Creek Rd during Saturday's road race. The top of this climb is located at approximately mile marker 25. These awards are ONLY for the women's fields and are provided by your Carolina Cycling Association and the Women's Series.
